About Boat Tahoe
The easiest way to fall in love with Lake Tahoe
Boat Tahoe is all about one thing: creating a private boat day that feels like it was made for you.
Some groups want music, sunshine, and a floating hangout spot. Others want Emerald Bay, hidden coves, and a captain who knows the lake like a local friend. Most want a little of both. Whatever your vibe is, we’ll shape the day around it—on some of the highest-quality charter boats on Lake Tahoe, with professional, welcoming captains who genuinely love what they do.
How Boat Tahoe Started
One boat. One big summer. One obsession with “wow.”
Boat Tahoe started in the summer of 2020—when I (Zach Koneffko) launched with a single boat and a simple goal: share something I love in a way that helps people feel what I feel.
For years I worked in marketing at ski resorts, and during COVID I watched the world shift in real time. I’d spent my life sharing my love of skiing… and I knew it was time to build something that shared my other love: being on the water.
I didn’t just want to run boat tours. I wanted to create experiences people would talk about years later—days that turn into stories, and memories that stick.
After the 2021 season, my good friend Duncan Kincheloe approached me about starting his own boat tour operation in Lake Tahoe. Instead of competing, we teamed up and focused on growing Boat Tahoe into what it is today.
In 2022, Boat Tahoe moved to our current home base at Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe—and we’ve continued expanding our fleet and our operation ever since.
Today, Zach and Duncan both run Boat Tahoe day-to-day. On a typical day you might see Zach at the marina more often, while Duncan is usually the one helping when you first call to talk through options and find the right boat and experience for your group. We’re in this for the long haul—committed to expanding our fleet, creating new and unique experiences, and being part of the Lake Tahoe community and the memories visitors take home after their time on the water.
The Heart Of Boat Tahoe: Our Crew
Professional captains. Great humans. Tahoe experts.
We’re incredibly lucky to work with a crew of around five men and women who bring Boat Tahoe to life every single day. They’re the heart of the company.
Every Boat Tahoe charter is captained by a USCG-certified professional. That matters—because it means training, standards, and the experience to make great decisions on the water.
But beyond credentials, here’s what you’ll actually notice: our captains are friendly, calm, and genuinely excited to share Lake Tahoe with you. They can keep it quiet and peaceful, keep it fun and social, or be your personal Tahoe guide with stories and fun facts for days.
